Recent paper documents levels of embracing the concept of patient/family centered care, patient/family engagement in the ICU setting. A survey sponsored by the World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine was conducted and received 345 responses from 45 countries. The results document variable uptake of key family engagement practices and also provide successful implementation techniques, tactics, and strategies that could help clinicians to address barriers to implementing patient and family engagement in the ICU.
